SmartTV

Well first there was the programmable remote which simply didn’t give you what it promised. Today there are even more devices than before which all have their own remotes. It almost makes a guy that sells remotes for a living happy.

Well it looks like Samsung will be putting a stop to all of that happiness. The company announced that they will be coming out with a new Smarter Smart TV and Remote Control which was designed to work on all of your devices that are connected to your television. Of course you’ll need the Samsung Smart TV to go along with the remote but once you have it you might just own the secret to happiness. You’ll not only be able to control the TV but also all those set-top boxes, media players, Blu-ray players and gaming consoles. It will be like having one whole complete out of the box entertainment system.

Finally you won’t have to have a large cardboard box on your coffee table to hold all your remotes in. You won’t be spending an hour a day looking for the right remote either. It may also encourage other devices to jump on the band wagon to create one remote for everything. Just like when the first programmable remotes hit the market. The only question is when will this all happen and when it does will it work this time.

According to Samsung their new remote will automatically react to each connected device. Their new Smart TV will also let users surf among regular TV stations and internet content as well. Gaming consoles and Blu-ray players will also be included in their utility belt. You’ll be able to effortlessly switch from one device to the next. Chris Turkstra, Vice President of Samsung’s customer experience lab stated in a press release that you will no longer need to keep track of several remotes to control your individual devices. The Samsung Smart TV is all you’ll need.

Samsung has a scheduled press conference on January 5th at CES. They are expected to announce more details on their new Smart TV interfaces and remotes.
