No not oiled, OLED. The newest television technology, OLED Television Technology. OLED short for Organic Light Emitting Diodes gives you thinner, more efficient, brighter, with better refresh rates and contrast than any Plasma or LCD TV on the market today. OLED is launching television quality into the next lever of premium peak performance delivering the best picture quality in the history of Television Technology.
OLED offers several advantages over LCD TV’s
- Thin and light screens are just 4 mm thick, and some OLED panel prototypes are merely 0.3 mm thick!
- A much faster refresh rate with better contrast and better color reproduction.
- Ecologically friendlier, OLED’s draw less power with almost no toxic metals other than a small trace amount of Iridium, a heavy metal.

- Lastly an interesting feature is that OLED panels can be made flexible and transparent.
Currently the only company producing the OLED TV’s are LG. The cheapest starts a $1900.for a 55 inch version all the way to $4900 for the 65 inch monster. The OLED TV technology is being referred to as the most trans-formative leap in TV technology since the introduction of color TV over 60 years ago. LG Display also supplies panels to other companies such as Skyworth, Changhong, Haier, Konka and KTC in Chinasuch and is also collaborating with Panasonic, Grundig and Sony. Panasonic announced their first OLED TV, the 65″ curved 4K TX-65CZ950 but it is not shipping yet.
