The longest running show in Television History.

Debuting on Television November 6, 1947 “Meet the Press” is the longest running show on Television and actually started in 1945 as a radio show. It has always been a very popular show that specializes in interviews with politicians, economists, policy makers and both foreign and national public affairs. Through the years they have always had panel discussions with notable experts and news people that offer opinions and analysis. Meet the press first recorded in NBC’s Washington studio during what is considered the second season in all of network television history. It is currently the longest running show of any kind on Television today.

The Show’s first moderator was a woman by the name of Martha Roundtree. She is to date the only female moderator the show has had. There have been as many as 13 moderators and is currently being moderated by David Gregory who began in 2008.

Another first for the long running show is that it is the first TV program to feature an interview with a sitting president Gerald Ford which occurred as late as November 9th, 1975 twenty eight years after the first airing of the show.
